I am proud to announce: Finishing homes, moving families in — GG is matching!
Dear Friend,
Check out the children of Al Aqaba Village running through their future homes, carrying their dreams of what peace means, and drawing what home looks like!
Al Aqaba is the Palestinian village in Firing Zone 900 within the West Bank's Area C
that was used for live-fire training exercises for 30 years until the Israeli High Court pressed Israel's Army to stop;
In this village, Rebuilding Alliance helped build the Al Haq Kindergarten;
In 2008, when the High Court ruled the center of the village would remain standing, we helped build the first three Rebuilding to Remain homes;
The Village finished 21 homes so far — no demolition orders for the past 12 years!

Many thanks to Al Aqaba's Librarian — Play the video now:
The village and all of us were shocked in January when Mr. Ismael’s unfinished house was demolished. Unfortunately, the High Court’s ruling on his appeal puts Al Aqaba’s other unfinished homes at high risk. So far, there are no demolition orders — but the way to keep them safe is to finish them quickly, so families move in.
Eight families need your help to finish construction
and move in by the end of the month.
Starting today, GlobalGiving will match your donation to Rebuilding to Remain in Palestine’s Al Aqaba! For your first $50, GG will provide $25 more. Make it a recurring donation and GG will match dollar for dollar up to $200.

Here's a way to make a difference, right now, when needed most. Our goal is to raise $75,000 to get the families moved in by then end of this month. If 1000 people give $50 each, we're there. Although they're building with haste — there's no time to waste.
At minimum, the families need plumbing, electrical, doors, windows, and flooring to move-in. Your $50 donation can buy a kitchen sink and with GlobalGiving’s push, it counts for even more!
$100 provides 5 meters of flooring tile, and $3000 is enough to tile an entire house. A window costs $450. One steel door is $580 (each house needs two), amounting to $9280 for all eight houses.
Rebuilding Alliance has been a lifeline to Al Aqaba’s community, and we've not stopped working since we first promised to build a school that would not be demolished. We kept that promise.
Please give generously.
Sincerely,
Donna Baranski-Walker

P.S. To keep Al Aqaba safe, we're holding Congressional briefings and inviting the U.S. Embassy to visit soon. Rebuilding Alliance is taking a Congressional Staff delegation there at the end of May — this all can help, but getting families moved in is essential.
