Good news: Airdrop to Gaza's Holy Family Church succeeded!

Dear Friend,

Last night, on Christmas Eve, under the directive of His Majesty King Abdullah II, the Jordanian Army delivered humanitarian aid to the people in the Holy Family Parish and Saint Porphyrios Parish in Gaza City. I want to thank everyone whose hard work made this happen.

Our successful effort was acknowledged by the Latin Patriarchate on Facebook:

And here's what the aid drop looked like from the airplane:

I especially want to thank the families with relatives inside the church. Some of you, and also an attorney, flew to DC to walk the halls of Congress with Rebuilding Alliance's advocacy team. Though it was not clear at the time, you helped put this aid drop in motion.

A big thank you to my friend in Jordan whose message reached H.M. the King. The office of Ambassador Dina Kawar, Jordan's Ambassador to the U.S., was instrumental in our moving forward.

But it took two lives to make the shooting stop. After an Israeli Army sharpshooter killed an elderly woman in the church courtyard and her daughter who came to her aid, a Congresswoman sat down with Israel's Ambassador to the U.S. and secured the Israeli Army's promise to stop shooting at people in the church.

When the aid convoys proved impossible, the aid drop became the only way to get food and medical supplies there by Christmas.

Next steps: Let's press for more aid drops especially to hospitals and schools, open Wadi Gaza to bring UNRWA aid trucks and staff up to the North, return the hostages, and secure a durable humanitarian ceasefire.

As this Christmas Day comes to a close, I give special thanks for all that you are doing. I wish you and the world a better New Year.

Sincerely,
